Work from Home taking surveys

You’ve seen the ads online: “Make Money Taking Surveys”. For years I thought those ads about earning extra money working from home by taking surveys were scams and I never clicked on them. But I have since learned more about online surveys. Some of them are scams–but not all. Many are actually market research by major corporations. And you can, in fact, make a little extra income by taking surveys and offering your honest opinion to corporations that want to know what consumers and potential customers like or dislike.

One of the oldest online survey sites is American Turk, an Amazon microtask company where for payment to you of a few cents you can take very quick, short surveys. Often these surveys are less than 5 “Yes or No” questions.

But before you click over to that website or other survey company, you should know these facts about the business world and American corporations:

If you are under age 50–or better yet– a young mother or a Millennial or Gen Z worker, the survey companies are going to love knowing your opinions on everything from soup to nuts to diapers to home furnishings to best tech gadgets and digital games. You are the prime target market for advertisers and they are very happy to pay for your evaluations. Note, however, that “payment” often comes in the form of gift cards or discounts.

Where retirees are most wanted

If you are over age 50, I’d question how often your opinion would be asked for. It might end up being a waste of your time applying for this type of work. Companies are primarily interested in the opinions, evaluations and attitudes of people under age 50, the people who are big shoppers and spenders. The exceptions to this are the health care, insurance and investment companies. They value the opinions of potential customers over age 50.

What you need: a newish computer or Smart phone with reliable internet access.

Where to find these work from home jobs: Four well-known survey companies are Survey Junkie, Swagbucks, SurveyTime, and Opinion Outpost. While these are reliable companies, be sure to read the reviews of them before you get involved. Also check out how much you would be paid. Some pay only $1 per survey; some pay much more; and some only pay with discount coupons! These jobs are more “side-gigs” because pay is so low.
